Tallahassee Swing is a band that has been keeping the music of the Big Band era alive since the late 1970s. Originally formed by a group of local musicians with a passion for swing music, the band began a tradition of weekly Tuesday night dances at the American Legion in 1989, creating a vibrant social scene where many dancers have formed lasting friendships and even gotten married. Over the years, Tallahassee Swing has expanded its repertoire to include songs for all forms of ballroom and popular dances, performing at weddings, birthdays, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, fundraisers, and concerts throughout North Florida and as far south as Orlando. The band continues to bring the joy of swing music to audiences across the region, ensuring that the timeless sounds of the Big Band era remain a cherished part of the community.
