The Apalachicola Sound is a rock-tinged country band from Tallahassee, Florida, blending southern rock, country, and Americana into a unique sound. The band's name honors their first recorded song, "Water Wars," which speaks to the environmental struggles of Apalachicola Bay. Fronted by George Maddox, who serves as lead singer, guitarist, and primary songwriter, the band takes a lyrics-driven approach, with each song telling a distinct story. Alongside Maddox, the band features Neal Goree on lead electric/slide guitar and vocals, Brett Cook on drums, and Sean Anderson on bass. The Apalachicola Sound gained recognition in 2022 when they opened for the legendary southern rock band Molly Hatchet. In 2021, they released their second full-length album, Snakeskin Halos, following their 2018 debut, Gritwater. Both albums reflect their dedication to a raw, authentic 70s sound, with minimal technological involvement, preserving the human element in music. Conservationists at heart, The Apalachicola Sound weaves southern storytelling with swampy, soulful rhythms. Their music has garnered over 120,000 streams on Spotify, and they are active on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
