David Paul Zimmer is a Tallahassee, FL native whose music is deeply rooted in the geography and traditions of the South. His earliest inspiration came from his grandfather, a fiddle and guitar player from a large, musical family in South Carolina. This early exposure to roots, bluegrass, and country music sparked a lifelong passion in David, who picked up the guitar in high school and went on to play in bands across the Southeast. After a two-year stint in Nashville, David returned to Tallahassee, where he has since fronted the indie folk rock band Driving Lights and released solo work under his own name. David’s solo material is influenced by modern artists like The National, Ryan Adams, and Gregory Alan Isakov, yet remains grounded in the Southern musical traditions that shaped his upbringing. His work has garnered attention beyond the local scene, with his music featured on network TV shows such as Station 19 and All American, as well as in various independent films. Whether performing locally in Tallahassee or creating new songs in his home studio, David Paul Zimmer’s music reflects a deep connection to his Southern roots and a modern indie sensibility.
