Violinist Suliman Tekalli has established his voice as an exciting and versatile concerto soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. As the top-prize winner of the Seoul International Music Competition and prize winner in the Sendai International Music Competition, the International Violin Competition “Rodolfo Lipizer Prize”, and the Henryk Szeryng International Competition, Suliman has performed throughout the US, Canada, Central America, Europe, and Asia, appearing on the stages of Carnegie Hall, Seoul Arts Center, Wigmore Hall, and the Kennedy Center, among others. His performances have been broadcast in Korea, in Canada, and on NPR in the US. As a composer, arranger, and performer, Suliman has transcribed and orchestrated classical and contemporary works for groups such as the Grammy Award-winning Catalyst String Quartet, Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect, and Sejong. In 2013, he gave the world premiere of his composition “Mephistoccata,” from his solo violin suite Fables, at the Montreal International Music Competition.

As a chamber musician, Jamila Tekalli Hanner has performed with members of the National Symphony, the Kennedy Center Opera, Colorado Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, and Orlando Philharmonic on stage at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Arsht Center, and the New World Center. Duo performances with her brother and violinist, Suliman Tekalli, took her throughout Libya in 2010 as an American Cultural Ambassador, promoting musical and cultural exchange through the US Embassy. The two have also performed on the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts (Chicago), for the Concert Artist Guild (New York), and with the Guanajuato Symphony Orchestra (Mexico). Jamila has performed in residence at the Banff Centre, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Keyboard Institute at Mannes, and Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute. Jamila holds degrees from the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, the University of Miami, and the University of Central Florida, studying with notable pedagogues Evelyne Brancart, Arnaldo Cohen, Laurent Boukobza, and Tian Ying. As an educator, she serves on the piano faculty at Levine Music in Washington D.C. Five concerts are included in the Season Passport, with six tickets. Individual tickets are $25. Senior tickets are $23. Student tickets for ages 13 and above are $5. Children 12 and under are admitted free if accompanied by a paying adult. Video tickets are $25-please note we do not give a senior discount for the video, but the video is included in the price of the Season Passport.
