Javacya Arts Conservatory, Arts in the Heart, and Florida A&M University Developmental Research School present the 2nd Annual Distinguished Black Classical Excellence Awards—a pre-MLK celebration honoring Black classical artists whose work is reshaping stages across the United States.
Building on the overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural event, this year’s ceremony shines a spotlight on:
Professional African American artists from across the nation
Black school-age musicians from the Southside Orchestra ProgramThe dynamic new 24-Karat Gold Symphony Orchestra, featuring Black and Pacific Islander artists from around the country
The 24-Karat Gold Symphony Orchestra moves effortlessly from classical masterworks to rock and pop—bringing the same technical mastery and energy whether performing a symphony or grooves in the spirit of Chris Brown.
During the ceremony, 2026 awardees will receive their honors “in the highest caliber of fashion” and share brief presentations of their musical excellence. The evening will also include special guest appearances and collaborations that audiences can only experience live in the hall.
More than a concert, the Distinguished Black Classical Excellence Awards is an arts experience centered on representation, access, and opportunity in classical music. The event celebrates the legacy and future of Black artistry while inspiring the next generation of young musicians and arts leaders.
Join us for an unforgettable night of brilliance, beauty, and musical excellence featuring Black and ethnically diverse artists on one powerful stage.
