SCREWS, the nonprofit community space founded by Gordy Cox in 2024 brings art and repair work together under one roof at 3972 Woodville Highway. The enterprise has its grand opening from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, along with the Southwide Flea Market, cake and live music by the Yeah Babys. The building houses a tool lending library, discount hardware store, workshop space, and music venue. Cox also fronts the SCREWS band, with Caleb Gove on guitar and David Baucom on bass. Popular vendors like Tomato Lady Produce and Ms. Betty, who sells household items, will be there. Local indie band The Yeah Babys, known for their energetic sets, will play at 5:30, followed by more music and dancing indoors. Cost is $6, $2 for members. Contact screws.charity; info@screws.charity
