Music For Food is back, with our spring concert coming up on Sunday, May 18 at 4pm at Grace Lutheran Church. We're looking forward to an afternoon of music-making and connection, and we hope you'll join us! The theme for our concert is "Water, Water Everywhere" and the program centers around Franz Schubert's exquisitely beautiful "Trout" Quintet for violin, viola, cello, bass, and piano. We'll also hear a variety of water-themed selections, including the celebratory "Hornpipe" from Handel's "Water Music," Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's heartfelt and virtuosic piano arrangement of "Deep River," and "Die Forelle," Schubert's art-song that inspired his beloved Quintet. Our performers include soprano Carla Connors, pianist Tim Hoekman, violinist Corinne Stillwell, violist Allyson Royal, cellist Evan Jones, and bassist Alex Lunday. Music For Food Tallahassee is an all-volunteer, musician-led initiative to fight hunger in our community, and we're part of a national organization with 22 chapters across the country. Our concert is free, but we'll be collecting non-perishable food and monetary donations; 100% of the funds raised will benefit the FSU Food for Thought Pantry. Donations may be made by cash, check payable to the FSU Foundation, or online at https://dsst.fsu.edu/foodpantry Suggested donation is $20/adult, $5/student, and non-perishable food donations are welcomed. After the tragic events on the FSU campus recently, we sincerely hope this concert will provide solace and beauty to nourish our souls, as we continue to collect food to nourish our community. Please spread the word, and we'll look forward to seeing you there!
