While Longineu's away, another cat will play. And what cat is that, you ask? That would be the great Wayne Pearcy! Wayne's been running this town since arriving in Boston a couple years back as Prof. Scotty Barnhart's grad assistant in the FSU jazz trumpet area. Now he's in that same role as the CLASSICAL trumpet GA to Prof. Chris Moore. Pearcy's talents know no bounds. He's as comfortable tearing through a bebop standard as putting the finer touches on a baroque trumpet sonata, and he can just as surely ignite the fire of a free jazz improv gig as well. That's what he'll be doing this time around at Free Jazz Thursday when he joins FJT stalwarts Brian Hall and Michael Bakan for a free jazz odyssey tracing the history of the jazz trumpet from Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis to Nicholas Payton and Terence Blanchard. Come on out, and prepare to be, quite literally, blown away! Free admission -- no cover!!
