The Florida A&M University Jazz Ensemble will present an evening concert featuring contemporary and traditional jazz music by some of the leading jazz composers and arrangers. This is a “going away” concert for the jazz ensemble as they are traveling to Norfolk, VA during April 9-12 to participate in an HBCU Jazz Residency and Festival sponsored by Jazz at Lincoln Center in conjunction with the Virginia Arts Festival.The FAMU Jazz Ensemble is one of ten bands from the United States invited to attend this festival. Each band will be adjudicated and the two highest scoring bands will perform a public concert with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Wynton Marsalis on April 11. Please come out and celebrate an evening of great jazz music with the FAMU Jazz Ensemble and wish them well on their upcoming festival performance! Free admission, donations accepted.
