Music of the Spheres: Persian music with Payam Yousefi

Thursday, Nov 7

Blue Tavern

On the first Thursday of every month during the academic year, the Center for Music of the Americas presents our Music of the Spheres concert series in partnership with Blue Tavern, Midtown Tallahassee's favorite neighborhood joint. For our third concert of the 2024-2025 season, we're honored to welcome newly-minted University of Florida Ethnomusicology professor and internationally acclaimed musician Payam Yousefi for an evening of classical and contemporary Persian music. Payam, who holds a PhD in Ethnomusicology from Harvard University, is a master of the kamancheh, the Persian spiked fiddle, and will take us on an improvisational journey through the rich musical and poetic culture of his native Iran. As always, cover charge is a nominal $5, and Blue Tavern will be serving its justifiably renowned filé gumbo, red beans and rice, sandwiches (including vegetarian and vegan options) and a variety of beer, wine, coffee, tea, and soft drinks. Hope to see you there!
