What can be more dramatic than Grant Peeples' theatrical debut? Two stories from Grant Peeples’ 2024 collection of short stories, The Heart Has Memory, brought to life as a staged reading by veteran Tallahassee area actors Hananel Jackson and Charles Burden, and in his theatrical debut, the author, Grant Peeples! Adapted for the stage by Donna Mavity. The Painting: Can a painting change a person’s life? Namely what might be the ugliest painting in the world? Folk diva Princilla will tell you a story about that… The Heart Has Memory: Can the heart be commanded? Eavesdrop in the exam room while cardiologist/jazz-cat Dr. Clarence Bowman tells heart patient Margret a story about snakes, nightmares and taking control... Performance begins at 7 pm at The Blue Tavern on Friday, August 30th. Copies of the 10-story collection The Heart Has Memory will be available for purchase and signing. The staged reading is from 7-8 pm, and after a break there will be other literary readings by local poets.
