" Mostly M’s" Music For Food Concert

Sunday, Jul 28
4 pm - 5:30 pm

Grace Lutheran Church-Elca

Celebrate summer with another Music For Food concert! Our program of “Mostly M’s” will feature a collection of 4 charming pieces for string quartet by the beloved Felix Mendelssohn. Next, we’ll play a fun musical example of onomatopoeia – an exciting piece called “Strum” by Jessie Montgomery, the Chicago Symphony’s Composer-in-Residence. “Strum” includes all kinds of plucking and strumming, rhythmic textures, weaving melodies, and fleeting nostalgia that transforms into ecstatic celebration. We’ll finish our concert with a gloriously lyrical and playfully virtuosic work for 4 violins and piano by the German romantic composer Ludwig Maurer. Join us for a sizzling array of repertoire performed by our wonderful Tallahassee musicians – violinists Ken Davis, Hannah MacLean, Corinne Stillwell, and Megumi Terry; violists Lee Taylor and Miriam Tellechea; cellists Greg Sauer and Ryan Snapp; and pianist Dean Peiskee. Music For Food is an all-volunteer, musician-led initiative to fight hunger in our community, and we're part of a national organization with 22 chapters across the country. Our concert is free but we'll be collecting non-perishable food and monetary donations, and 100% of the funds raised will benefit the FSU Food for Thought Pantry. Donations may be made by cash, check payable to the FSU Foundation, or online at https://dsst.fsu.edu/foodpantry Suggested donation is $20/adult, $5/student, and non-perishable food donations are welcomed. We sincerely hope you can join us to celebrate summer with an afternoon of music to nourish our souls, and food to nourish our community.
