It will be high cotton in Perry, FL this weekend – King Cotton will be making its comeback on Saturday, Sept. 21, in Perry, FL for its annual Smokin' in the Pines BBQ Festival. It's been 11 years since lead singer Tony Young, upright bassist Todd Bevis, and drummer Tom Corbett played music together in King Cotton – a band they helped form in 1996. All three graduated from Lincoln High School, have been friends for decades, and share a passion for music and the North Florida outdoors. The group will have a new guitarist this go 'round in Stuart Ledbetter, a fellow red hills native, whom Young and Corbett had recently played with in another project. King Cotton will be headlining Saturday's festivities and will take the stage at 8 p.m. The event is being held at the Forest Capital Museum State Park located at 203 Forest Park Drive and gates open at 9 a.m. with a full day of live music starting at 10 a.m. Other groups performing include Michael Miller Band, Whiskey Heart, Bryan James, Madden Metcalf, and Fallen Timber. "After years of our longtime fans and friends asking for it, we’ve officially put the band back together!" Young said. "The North Florida music community has always been incredibly supportive of our version of the blues, so we are excited to bring it back. We'll be doing all original songs off our three previous albums, and we are especially grateful to have Stuart join our group, who serves up some remarkable guitar playing." The event is free, family friendly, and open to all ages. More information can be found at https://www.facebook.com/events/s/smokin-in-the-pines-bugs-bbq-f/313210545092331/.
