Join us Friday, August 23rd for a fun community contra dance! Kenny Greer will be joining us from Berea, KY to call the dances to the live tunes of the Flathead String Band. Tallahassee community contra dances continue in the Senior Center Ballroom on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month! Contra dancing is an upbeat, beginner-friendly American folk dance for all ages. It shares many moves with square dancing (such as swing your partner and do-si-do) and is danced in long lines to live music. The bands and callers vary each night. Come alone or bring friends–no partner or experience required. Those new to contra dancing are strongly encouraged to come by 7:15 when a Beginner Lesson will be taught, and as dances are taught in more detail early in the evening. Wear comfortable clothes and flat shoes. Admission cost: $10 for Adults, $9 Seniors over 50, $6 for Students, Free for Kids under 12 Admission is payable by cash, check, or card at the door.
