Jazzmatazz at Blue Tavern presents the debut performance of LIMINUS, a new quartet dedicated to cross-cultural improvisation that features harpist Noël Wan, composer/pianist Liliya Ugay, and composer/guitarist Eren Gümrükçüoğlu, along with BT regular Michael Bakan on percussion. Dr. Wan has performed nationwide and around the world, including at Carnegie Hall, and has been the winner of numerous major competitions including the 2022 USA International Harp Competition and the 2010 World Harp Competition. Dr. Ugay is an internationally renowned composer and pianist whose operas, orchestral pieces, and solo and chamber works have been performed worldwide. She has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the 2024 Music Teachers National Association Distinguished Composer of the Year Award. Dr. Gümrükçüoğlu is also an award-winning composer, specializing in electronic and electroacoustic music, as well as an accomplished jazz guitarist. His works have been performed in leading concert halls around the globe and have also been featured on soundtracks for both Hollywood and Turkish films and television shows.
